Norman Wade ~ It Just Doesn't Matter NowCountry Norman Wade was born in Columbus, Georgia on Saturday 2 March 1946. Little is known of Wade's early years, except that he developed an interest in country music as a child & was particularly attracted to the music of Hank Williams. As a teenager, Norman spent his boyhood between his birthplace in Columbus, Georgia & Marianna, Florida & often slipped into the honkytonks of both areas to sing his music before he was even sixteen years old. In 1959, after learning guitar & singing in local clubs, Norman relocated to Nashville. Marty Robbins, who became Wade's biggest influence, offered him a job that led to his working for the star for the next fifteen years, including appearances with him on the Grand Ole Opry. Norman Wade: 'Close Every Honky Tonk' Marty Robbins later played dobro on some tracks on Norman Wade's 'Pure Country' album. Norman Wade first recorded in 1959, but it was in 1978 that he achieved minor success with 'Close every honky tonk'. The name Norman Wade appeared once on the Billboard country music singles chart, for two weeks in 1979, with a version of Hank Williams' 'I'm a long gone daddy', which peaked at No.97. Norman Wade has written many songs & excels at recording honky tonk tunes. He has played the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville in his own right and, in 1984, he was honoured with lifetime membership of the Jimmie Rodgers Memorial Festival in Meridian, Mississippi. Tuesday morning, CNNs Debra Feyerick explored the suit, discussing an 1918 letter from a bonesman, discovered two years ago, which seems to indicate Geronimos skull is stored within the tomb where members hold meetings on Yales campus. The network also repeated allegations that deceased Senator Prescott Bush, father of President George HW Bush and grandfather to President George W. Bush, was one of the grave robbers. Its been 100 years since the death of my great-grandfather in 1909. Its been 100 years of imprisonment, Geronimos great-grandson Harlyn Geronimo told reporters after the suit had been filed in the district court in Washington. Ronnie McNeir - WholeheartedlyI co-wrote this wonderful song with both Ronnie McNeir and the wonderful charismatic Obie (Renaldo) Benson, of the Four Tops, who sadly passed away a few years ago. Obie had also written "What's Going On" with Marvin Gaye of course, and had co-written with me and Ronnie that wonderful tribute to Marvin by his brother Frankie Gaye, called "My Brother". Ronnie McNeir made his very first record as a teenager called "Sitting In My Class", which became a huge Northern Soul favourite. He became close friends with Kim Weston, and moved to Los Angeles. Ronnie then returned to his home town of Detroit, and built up his recording career. After recording for many more labels, he signed to Prodigal, which became a part of Motown, and then recorded for Motown itself. He was a major part of our Motorcity project, writing for many other artists, along with his lifetime friend, "Four Top" Obie Benson, as well as singing for us as an artist. He is now a permanent member of the Four Tops, since only one original member is now left, Duke Fakir. My friend Ralph Tee flew to Las Vegas, where Ronnie now lives, especially to shoot the video for our big Motorcity classic, "Lucky Number". This song, "Wholeheartedly", was first recorded in 1990, then years later went on to become one of the first of these Motorcity recordings to be wholeheartedly welcomed and adored by the London Soul scene.
