Christopher Naunton of the Egyptian Exploration Society explains the significance of discoveries by great explorers such as Flinders Petrie and Giovanni Belzoni, who's discoveries in Egypt advanced the field of archaeology before Carter's amazing discovery in 1922. He has been working on digs around Egypt and is known to the head of the Egyptian Antiquities organization (SCA), Zahi Hawass. He has been filmed as part of a National Geographic special. They have been investigating the incident in September, where 6 people died in mysterious circumstances, were buried alive in an illegal dig. 'Their research has revealed secret burial grounds and the possible location of Khufu's tomb. They have used ground penetrating radar to locate this as well as numerous locations of treasures hidden underground. Givin back the Ka VIIn the year 2007, the so called "younger lady" from KV35 was again investigated after supposed to be Nefertiti. After a facial-reconstruction and as a result of the fitting of a found arm, that could be that of a queen, she was presented to the whole world for being probably Queen Nefertiti. This investigation was sent on a TV - show with Joann Fletcher as leader of the investigation. The newer investigations showed, the arm does not fit. But the nature of mummification corresponds to a member of the royal family. The mummy of the woman has a striking wound in its cheek. Inter alia there are signs the woman got the numerous wounds in her lifetime so that they brought her to dead. In addition, there are remains of the shattered pieces of the upper jaw and teeth deep into her nasal cavity. This finding suggests a violent death by a blow with a hard object. In the following embalming the wound hid the hole by resin and filler material. More special features were found out: The back skull is asymmetrical, left side a bit under-developed and has an unusual bone that looks like a small spur. A similar anomaly has been known exclusively known only for one: for Tutankhamun. The age of the woman was estimated at the time of death at 22 to a maximum of 45 years. The birth of a child at least has been detected. It is supposed, that this woman, probably Kiya, second wife of Akhenaten, was the mother of famous king Tutankhamen.more info
